Frequently Asked Questions:

Our staff is trained to make your first visit as stress-free as possible. The initial evaluation includes a review of your health history including your dental history, and necessary x-rays to support visual screening. We will also answer any questions or concerns you may have, and strive to make you as comfortable as possible during your time with us. For more information about how to prepare for your child’s first dental check-up, please visit our Children’s Dentistry page.
Dental X-ray examinations provide valuable information that helps Dr. Rafik Riad evaluate your oral health. How often radiographs should be taken depends on your present oral health, your age, your risk for disease, and any sign or symptoms of oral disease you may be experiencing. X-rays are helpful in detecting any new cavities, determining the status of your gum health or evaluating the growth and development of your teeth. Full mouth x-rays are taken at least once every five years, and check-up xrays are taken at least once a year. If you have a history of decay, Dr. Rafik Riad may recommend having your dental xrays taken more frequently.
The amount of radiation that we are exposed to from dental X-rays (especially digital X-rays used in our office) is very small compared to our daily exposure from things like, cosmic (outer space) radiation. Visit www.ada.org for more information.
We accept most PPO dental insurance plans and are a preferred provider for the Delta Dental Premier, Delta Dental PPO, GEHA Connection Dental PPO, United Healthcare/Dental Benefits Providers PPO, and Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield 300 PPO.  We also accept all indemnity plans (It is important to note that many other insurance plans contract with the plans that we accept, so even if you do not see your plan listed, please call the office so we can better determine if we are a preferred provider with your plan).  At the end of your appointment, we will provide you with a written comprehensive treatment plan, which includes estimated insurance benefits and the patient’s out-of-pocket investment. We offer convenient monthly payment plans with little to no interest through CareCredit. We also accept all major credit cards.
