CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacture)
CEREC is an exciting system for the fabrication of all ceramic dental restorations, often in one office visit. For the patient, this means fewer injections, less drilling and less time out of your busy schedule. These strong, esthetic restorations are created on a computer screen after an optical 3D image is taken with a small camera, directly in your mouth. The restoration is milled by diamond instruments in a computer guided milling machine in our office—maximum strength, great looks! No more temporary crowns for two weeks!
Soft Tissue Laser
This marvelous new technology enables us to perform a variety of procedures, such as comfortable repositioning of unattractive or problem gum tissue, biopsies, removal of benign tissue growths in the mouth, frenum removal and treatment of some periodontal pockets. Dr. Lipat and Dr. Hamel perform non-surgical gum disease laser therapy in conjunction with scaling and root planning (SRP) to improve the effectiveness of this procedure. Laser gum therapy is a great gum disease treatment because there can be less bleeding, swelling and discomfort to the patient during surgery.
Digital X-rays
Many diseases of the mouth, teeth, surrounding tissues and bone cannot be detected by a visual exam alone. X-rays will show decay between the teeth, below fillings, bone loss, developmental defects, some types of tumors and the position of un-erupted teeth. Digital x-ray technology uses 90% less radiation than standard dental x-rays. It appears instantly on the computer screen and can be magnified and enhanced to reveal hidden problems. Your safety, comfort and care are our primary concern. We use leaded apron and thyroid shield to further protect you from radiation.
Intraoral Camera
With a small wand camera, we are able to capture pictures of the smallest areas in you mouth and project the image onto a computer screen. This allows you to see your teeth about 20X their natural size. With this view we are both able to see the condition of your teeth, mouth and gums for more accurate diagnosis of treatment if indicated. Our patients (especially kids) love this technology.
